Transition to Fairfield

The transition to secondary school is a hugely exciting, but sometimes overwhelming time for children and their parents. We hope that you are able to find all of the information that you need to help you prepare for the next step in your child's education journey.

We are delighted that your child has received a place at Fairfield High School for Girls and will be joining us in September!

Our vision of Excellence and Ambition for all and our values of developing Successful Learners, Confident Individuals and Responsible Citizens starts here as we welcome our next cohort of Year 7s to join our school community. We want every pupil to enjoy their time at Fairfield and leave with the confidence and academic success to thrive as young adults and beyond.

We are committed to ensuring that your daughter’s transition to us is enjoyable and reassuring. The success of this aims lies in the partnerships that we form with families and with the primary schools that your children attend. We take pride in getting to know our new pupils and families, in order to prepare successfully for our new cohort.

Message from Miss Lealman, Headteacher

Dear Year 6 pupil,

Welcome to Fairfield! This area is designed to support your transition to Fairfield.

I am thrilled to welcome you to Fairfield High School for Girls. From the moment you are offered a place at our school, you become a Fairfield girl, joining a long tradition of girls in Tameside who have been educated here for over 200 years. Our staff and pupils look forward to meeting you on Transition Day in July so that you can experience a typical day at our wonderful secondary school and learn all about our values of success, responsibility and confidence.

In the meantime, please check this page regularly and take part in all the transition activities on offer to you.

With kindest regards,

Miss Lealman

Message from Miss Diamandis, Head of Year 7

Hello, girls, and welcome to Fairfield!

My role as Head of Year 7 is centred around making the transition from Year 6 into Year 7 as smooth as possible, whilst helping pupils settle in to life at secondary school, which can be quite a nervous time for some. Unlike the other Heads of Year at Fairfield, I stay as Head of Year 7 every year. As part of my role, I visit our feeder primary schools in the local area, meet Year 6 teachers and parents and carers to ensure we have all the information needed to ensure you make a wonderful start to your five years here with us. I work closely alongside our SEND department, Assistant Head of Year and form tutors to support our Year 7 pupils.
