Personal Development
Personal Development is a crucial part of our school ethos, as we aim to prepare our pupils for the world beyond Fairfield.
We aim to develop our pupils’ character and support them on their journey to becoming confident, resilient and respectful young people, with strong mental, physical health and wellbeing.
We deliver all of this through an extensive range of extra-curricular activities, a successful form time curriculum, pastoral support programmes, pupil leadership roles and our Fairfield Forum. We deliver a range of Personal Development Experience Days which focus on themes such as wellbeing, careers guidance, female empowerment, diversity and culture. In addition, we have a wide range of pupil leadership opportunities including Equality and Diversity Prefects, a Head Girl team, Sports Leaders, Prefects, EAL Ambassadors, SEND Ambassadors and Reading Mentors.
Developing Oracy is a key focus for the school and is incorporated into our tutor time, assemblies and curriculum whereby pupils learn about formal presentation, structuring discussions and public speaking.
Finally, our award-winning P.E. department have a long-standing reputation in Tameside for developing character and leadership through sporting participation. All of these experiences develop our pupil’s character, build resilience, offer opportunities for leadership and deliver a spiritual, moral, social and cultural education.
